Artist Carlos Gonzalez challenges people to recycle

Local artist Carlos Inocente Gonzalez challenged 25 different organizations and people to recycle as many bottle caps as they could for a month. Among the organizations were the adult school of LaBelle, Bridge Street Coffee Company, Rick’s Barber Shop, The Girl Scouts of LaBelle, Barron Park Gallery and Carlos himself. “The challenge was how much of the ramp on the water at Barron Park we could fill up,” Carlos explains. “I collaborated together with artist Christopher Obetz of the Little Toot Foundation and I made a chair of all the recycled material I received from donations from people around town. My next project will be to put the chair on display in various locations and businesses throughout LaBelle. From that I am going to make a photo series and put it all together in a book to honor and showcase the history and beauty of LaBelle.”
