Susan Oehl, formerly of Connecticut and now a resident of Ft. Myers, has been selected by Arts of the Inland board members to be “Artist of the Month” at the Barron Park House Gallery in LaBelle. Susan’s paintings will be on display throughout the month of May.
Ms. Oehl studied graphic and fine arts at the highly respected Middlesex Community College and went on to finish a four year degree at Connecticut State University. After graduation, she worked as a graphic artist and taught pastel and watercolor classes.
Susan works mainly in pastels and watercolor. She is a “plein aire” who works from nature and travels to landscape sites and to the coast or waterways to paint. To quote Susan, “I work outside most of the time because the light is best for capturing color and shade. I work to depict a mood and a sense of place rather than strict adherence to reality.”
The work of this award-winning painter has been shown in Connecticut, Naples, and the Alliance for the Arts in Ft. Myers.
The Barron Park House Gallery is located at 471 No. St in LaBelle and is open Thursday thru Sunday, noon to 5. Everyone is invited to visit the Gallery to see Susan Oehl’s work, as well as the art of many South Florida artists.
