Hunting Happiness – “Winds of Change”

As I am writing this I can hear the wind howling outside the window. I walked outside this morning and my goodness, it is windy! By the time you are reading this the winds have probably subsided but I know you’ll remember these winds. It brings to my mind the lyrics of the song “To make you feel my love”:

“The storms are raging on the rolling sea, and on the highway of regret. The winds of change are blowing wild and free, and you ain’t seen nothing like me yet.”

This is a time of change and transition for all of us, as a country, with the swearing in of a new President. I’m not here to discuss politics or whether or not you believe this to be a positive or a negative transition in our political system; I am here to bring an acknowledgment and an awareness that we are going through change as a people. The energetic vibrations of the emotional current that these changes are bringing seem to be mirrored by the energetic vibrations of the earth at this time. As I checked in on my friends in California this morning, through social media posts, I saw that the torrential rains on the west coast have turned the cliffs of Malibu into waterfalls and as I walked outside to witness the howling winds I saw that they had rearranged the lawn furniture throughout the front yard.

The physical changes manifesting in nature and the changes happening in our country caused me to go inward and reflect on the changes happening in my own life. The goals and intentions I’ve set for this new year, some of them already coming into fruition, became symbolic metaphors of the waterfalls and the lawn furniture. So, as I stood in the windy driveway this morning I asked myself how I could use these “winds of change” to my advantage; how can I invite the winds to symbolically rearrange the lawn furniture of my own mind? How can I let blessings of happiness, joy, bliss, and abundance flow into my life like a new waterfall where there was once only a dry and mountainous cliff?

“The winds of change are blowing wild and free, and you ain’t seen nothing like me yet.”

So I stand, symbolically, in the winds of my own life; welcoming them to clear the space of clutter and negative, stagnant energy that was no longer serving me or elevating me to my better self. I stand and allow the winds to bring in new arrangements of growth, happiness, and love. I stand in the wind with the hope of “you ain’t seen nothing like me yet.” stand and say “Show me what you’ve got!”

Change can be scary sometimes, but without change we stand still and we stop growing. Change facilitates growth. Growth leads to happiness. May your winds of change blow a current of blessings and love your way. We are all in this together.
