On Monday February 10 Dr. Paul Gray presented an informative program on “Update and Florida Grasshopper Sparrow and Everglade Snail Kite Recovery Efforts” at Dallas Townsend Agricultural Extension Building. Dr. Paul is a Science Coordinator for Audubon Florida’s Everglades Program. Paul is based out of Lorida, near Sebring, and has been working in Florida for 30 plus years, with the last 25 for Audubon. Paul works on water, land, and bird management issues primarily related to Lake Okeechobee, but works on state-wide issues too. He is a charter member of the Florida Grasshopper Sparrow Working Group and co-chair of the Snail Kite Coordinating Committee and gave us the latest information on the status of both of these Florida endemics. Paul’s educational background includes a BS from the University of Missouri, an MS from Texas Tech University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida.
