The General Federation of Women’s Club’s 2019-2020 Florida President, Sharon Oliphant, will be coming to the Fall District Meeting on November 1, 2019. Her President’s Project is Operation Smile, and she has set a goal of raising $250,000 for them.

One of GFWC Community Woman’s Club members, Sherry Smith-Meade says, “We are on target to achieve that. Our local club was the first to purchase tickets for an opportunity to win a spot on an Operation Smile mission to South America.”

Operation Smile consists of a group of medical volunteers, donors, and staff, that are committed to providing exceptional surgical care to end child suffering from cleft lips and/or cleft palates. “Without surgery, as many as 9 in 10 children born with cleft conditions will not survive,” say the organization’s spokespeople.

“Also in attendance will be Shannon Bailey, the Director of Junior Clubs. The Junior Club in our District is in Naples. We are in District 12 with Naples, Rotonda West, Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda and Arcadia,” says Meade.

GFWC is well-known as one of the world’s largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational, women’s volunteer service organizations. The GFWC LaBelle Community Woman’s Club’s purpose is to promote and provide civic, educational and charitable activities. They are dedicated to community improvement through volunteer service. Their President, Christine Eaton, is dedicated to this mission.

They are looking for new members, and invite interested women to attend their next regular meeting on Tuesday, November 12, at 6:00 p.m. Also, every Tuesday morning they get together for “Together Tuesday’s” from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. where they do various crafts, have great conversations while sipping coffee. They then have lunch afterwards. Their Clubhouse is located at 382 West Hickpochee Avenue, next to Ace Hardware.
