There will always be support – the last of five sutras

Over the past five weeks I have been giving you one sutra at a time that I was inspired to write during the passing and aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Today we will learn the final sutra of my teaching on weathering life’s storms and navigating your way to a happier you.

So far we have covered “Boarding up your energy field like boarding up windows”, “True Power comes from within”, “Planning is futile compared to alignment and flow”, and “Control the things you can control and surrender the things that you can’t control”

The final sutra in our 5 Sutra training is: There will always be support for you. Sometimes in the most unlikely of places.

Many times when we are in the midst of a life storm, be it an emotional break up, a health crisis, a financial set back, or however the storm presents itself to us, we may feel that we are completely alone; left to navigate this dark and difficult time all by ourselves. The truth is, we are not alone. There is a tendency we have, as humans, to isolate ourselves during tough times. We may be experiencing a heightened sense of emotions with whatever storm we are facing, and maybe being that raw and open is uncomfortable for us , perhaps it causes us to withdraw from our friends and family because we don’t like to show our vulnerable sides to other people. This only exacerbates the feelings of loneliness and depression however, and it is very unnecessary.

Think back to when you last witnessed one of your best friends go through a storm of their own. Didn’t you want to be there to help them? Didn’t you want to ease their suffering? Of course you did, and you probably offered to help too, only to be told that there was nothing you could do.

When we are going through storms it’s important to remain open to the support of those around us; our family and friends.

It’s also important to remain open to creative possibilities to solutions and outcomes to your storm that you may not foresee.

When we were weathering the aftermath of storm Irma there were many times when I witnessed support coming in ways I would never have planned and through people I didn’t even know! God works through people and so don’t pinch off the support and security that you can receive by a limited scope of imagination. Allow yourself to rest comfortably in the knowing that you are completely loved and supported through whatever difficult circumstance you are facing.

I teach a lot from a metaphysical text called A Course in Miracles which says “If you knew Who walks beside you on the way that you have chosen, fear would be impossible.” Take that in. Take a deep breath and hold it in for just a second. Ruminate on that line “If you knew Who walks beside you on the way that you have chosen, fear would be impossible.”

Next time your facing a storm, be it physical or a life storm remember that no matter how alone you may feel, support is always there for you, however unlikely the source may seem; and all that you have to do is accept it.

I hope that these 5 Sutras to weather any storm over the past five weeks has served you well.
