Local Youth Show Dairy Goats at the LaBelle Rodeo Grounds

The LaBelle Youth Livestock Dairy Goat Show was held on Thursday, February 16th. The official judge for the evening was Mr. Junior Webster of Ft. Myers, Florida. MJRDB Architecture LLC sponsored the show.

The evening began with the peewee dairy goat show with John Bechtel, Timothy Bechtel, Isabella Chance, Colten Clark, Kassi Dupree, Garnett Gonzalez, Beryl Gonzalez, Benny Hernandez, Gabriella Hernandez, Molly McAvoy, Sadie Pelletier, Jacob Porth, Luca Pullero, Giana Pullero, Gabby Rodriguez, Vaughn McAvoy, and Hunter Zilen showing dairy goats. The exhibitors walked the goats around the ring and were asked questions about the goat they were showing. All of the peewee participants received medallions for their great dairy goat showmanship.

The exhibitors were awarded based on the Danish system. The show consisted of several exhibitors showing more than one dairy goat: Ariana Alexander – 1 blue ribbon; 1 grand champion; Gwendolyn Ash – 2 blue ribbons; Hannah Bechtel – 3 blue ribbons, 1 grand champion, 2 reserve champions; Kirsi Dunaway – 8 blue ribbons, 7 grand champions; Pearl Gonzalez – 3 blue ribbons, 2 reserve champions; Olivia Handley – 2 blue ribbons, 1 grand champion; Bryce Johnson – 1 blue ribbon; Erica Powers – 1 blue ribbon; Aimee Suchomski – 1 blue ribbon; and Gracie Swails – 2 blue ribbons, 2 grand champions.

The Best of Show buckle was awarded to Kirsi Dunaway with her dairy goat named Billie Jean. Billie Jean is a Nigerian Dwarf (Doe – 2 years and under 3) and was born on February 15, 2105.

Ariana captured the first place award in the Junior Showmanship division as well as in the Junior Fitting and Grooming division with Gracie in second place in the Fitting and Grooming division and Pearl in second place in the Junior Showmanship division.

Hannah took the first place award with Aimee winning the second place award in the Intermediate Fitting and Grooming category. Hannah also achieved the first place award in the Intermediate Showmanship division with Kirsi placing second.

Olivia captured the first place Senior Fitting and Grooming award with Gwen achieving second place. Gwen achieved the first place honor in the Senior Showmanship division with Olivia taking second place.

All of the exhibitors did a great job exhibiting their goats. The exhibitors who participated in the LaBelle Youth Livestock Dairy Goat Show were members the Udder Fun Dairy Goat 4-H Club led by Marsha Bechtel or Felda Community Pioneers 4-H Club under the direction of Jesse and Stephanie Dunaway.
