LaBelle High Schools Sports- Round up for 2-11-16

Last Week (2/1- 2/6)
• The Cowboy Basketball Team (16-11, 6-0) dominated the 4A-10 District Tournament, beating Gateway in the first round 66-35, and cruising past rival Bishop Verot in the District Championship in Nevins Gym 61-38, to win the team’s first District Championship 18 years! Great job Cowboys!

• Cowgirls Sierra Nunez and Angelica Cuellar competed in the 1A State Finals for Girls Weightlifting in Kissimmee this past Friday and earned 7th and 8th place, respectively, in their weight divisions. Good work ‘Girls!

• The Varsity Cowgirl Softball Team beat South Fort Myers this past Thursday 15-0, but lost to Charlotte on Friday 2-13, bringing their record to 1-1 (0-0).

• The Cowboy and Cowgirl Tennis Teams, led by Head Coaches Lucas Talada and Lisa Brookins got off to a great start this past week. The Cowboys (1-1) lost to Clewiston and beat Immokalee, while the Cowgirls beat both Clewiston and Immokalee (2-0).

This Week (2/8 – 2/13)
• The 4A District Champion Cowboy Basketball Team will host Berkeley Prep (Tampa) (19-9, 5-5) at the Ranch on Thursday, 2/11, in the FHSAA Regional Quarterfinals that begin at 7 p.m. Wear white and come show your support!

• The Cowgirl Softball team will travel to Riverdale on Monday, 2/8, with JV beginning at 5 p.m. and Varsity beginning at 7 p.m. and host Sebring on Tuesday, 2/9, with Varsity beginning at 6:30 p.m.

• The Cowboy Baseball team gets into full swing this week as they travel to Avon Park on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to compete in the Early Bird Tournament. The Cowboys will play Avon Park at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 2/9, and Lake Placid at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, 2/11.

• The Cowboy Wrestling Team will travel to Clewiston this Wednesday, 2/10, for a match that begins at 5:00 p.m.
